About Grant and Mel at Ultra Trails

Grant

I first discovered the joys of running ultra-marathons over 10 years ago and haven’t looked back. My all time favourite ultra-marathon and biggest achievement to date has to be the Hardmoors110, a 110 mile route along the entire Cleveland Way in 2021.

The nature of these events does mean that we use a mixture of local and national businesses for products and services. However, I am driven by the ethos of working with local businesses where possible. It is really important that the local area benefit from our events and that we have support from the local community.

At our events you will see me at registration during the race brief and start line. You might also see me out on the course as I make sure that everything is running smoothly.

Mel

I’m at the beginning of my Ultra-Marathon journey. Seeing Grant complete his many Ultras truly inspired me and now I’m completely hooked too. If I’m not running, I’m reading, listening to, or watching something running related.

I completed my first Ultra in September 2021 followed by my second in January 2022. I have plenty more planned in the coming months and ones I’ve set my sights on for years to come!

The last two years of the pandemic have opened my eyes to the importance of helping those in our community and I’ve realised that going forward I need to contribute more. I’m beginning to do this through volunteering, but I’m also keen for our events to have a positive impact too, so we’ll be looking at how we can involve community groups and also support local charities.

Grant and I live in Stamford Bridge with my two girls. Grant’s two boys are young adults and very much enjoying their independence. We love exploring the beautiful hidden gem that is the Yorkshire Wolds and I can’t wait for you to experience them too.

I will stay at registration for the duration of our events to help you at the beginning, keep an eye on your progress during and celebrate you crossing the finish line!
