Inclusivity

It is really important to us that we make you feel welcome when you visit our website and when you meet us in person. We have put together this policy to summarise how we try to be inclusive.

Our aim is to open up our events to as many people as possible. We want to strike the right balance and encourage everyone in equal measure.

Please contact us if you have any ideas about how we can improve. We want to hear from you.

Striking the right balance

  • We will try to use language on our website, social media and email communication that is inviting and welcoming.

  • Our photos, event coverage and results will be representative of everyone.

  • You can be part of our community through Facebook and Strava.

Affordability

  • We avoid special offers or early bird entry fees so that you pay the same as everyone else, even if you need time to save up to enter an event.

  • Our price increases are subtle and annual to avoid price shocks.

  • You can decide whether to purchase a tee as an optional extra. When we made it optional we reduced our entry fees by the amount the tee cost us to manufacture.

  • We have partnered with Into Ultra to provide financial assistance if you reside in East Riding of Yorkshire and cannot afford to take part in one of our ultra marathon events. The financial assistance is by way of free entry.

CUT OFF TIMES

  • We have generous cut-off times that are based on a pace of 3 miles per hour (or 2.5 miles per hour for our 50 km ultra), to help you if you are a beginner and/or you need to do a lot of walking.

  • We do not have cut-off times at checkpoints. You can run your race at your pace.

  • We provide you with a pace chart on every event page so that you can discover how long it could take you to complete an event.

  • When you finish the flags will still be flying, regardless when you cross the finish line. You deserve to receive the same experience as everyone else. If you arrive with 10 minutes to spare, you are 10 minutes early.

Changing room and toilet facilities

  • We provide separate male and female toilets at the start and finish of every event.

  • There are toilets are available at at least 2 separate locations along the route of every ultra marathon event.

  • We provide separate male and female changing rooms at the start and finish of the Chalkland Way Ultra and Yorkshire Wolds Ultra.

  • We provide separate male and female showers at the finish of the Chalkland Way Ultra and Yorkshire Wolds Ultra.

  • Menstrual products will be available at registration and at all checkpoints.

Nutrition

  • At the checkpoints all the food and drink is vegan friendly and gluten free.

  • We will send you an email about 1 week before the event takes place that will include links to the ingredients of the checkpoint food and drink.

  • At least 1 checkpoint on ultra marathons will have the ability to leave a non-returnable food drop bag.

  • At the end of an ultra marathon we will offer you hot drinks, cold drinks and snacks. We will have dairy and dairy free milk options for your hot drink, plus a variety of vegan friendly and gluten free snacks alongside other snacks.

Tolerance

  • During our race brief we will remind everyone about behavior, tolerance and etiquette during the race brief.

Continuous improvement

  • We will contact you after the event has taken place to ask for your feedback, so that we can encourage you and other runners to flourish at our events.

Supporting the local community

  • We will communicate the event on local Facebook groups, newspapers and other online channels so that local people know that the event is taking place.

  • We will work with local businesses to encourage those travelling from outside of the area to use local businesses.

  • We adopt a local first approach when making decisions about who to use when buying products for our events. We do work with businesses from further afield when local is not practical.

  • At least 5% of your entry fee will go towards supporting local charities.
