Navigation

The Wold Rangers Way Ultra is easy to navigate. This page is designed to prepare you and to give you confidence.

Please familiarise yourself with the route before the event takes place because signage may be moved, damaged, or removed.

Route INFORMATION

Waymarkers

  • You will see Wold Rangers signage for the first 5 miles, with our without white rectangular arrows.

  • Sometimes there will be existing public rights of way arrows to point you in the right direction.

Yorkshire Wolds Way

  • There is no Wold Rangers signage where the route covers the Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail, and partially the Centenary Way.

  • You will first join the Yorkshire Wolds Way after approximately 5 miles from the start, as illustrated in the photo. Look out for Yorkshire Wolds Way finger posts, plus acorns on gates.

  • You will be re-introduced to Wold Rangers signage at Wharram Percy Wold, just before you reach a country road leading to checkpoint 3 at Fimber.

TAPE

  • We will add yellow tape where the route covers the Yorkshire Wolds Way and Centenary Way. The tape is biodegradable and made from 100% viscose pulp.

  • You will see the tape every 500 to 1000 meters where you need to made a directional decision.

ARROW SIGNAGE

  • We will add large yellow arrow signs in villages and near the start and finish.

  • You will also see a sign whenever you need to join, or leave, a road.

  • When travelling along a country road it will be really obvious where you need to turn off and rejoin a trail.

Using your TRACKER

Don’t forget, you are provided with a tracker. Not only can friends and family track your progress, you can also use this as a navigational tool. The tracker link enables you to:

  • Locate exactly where you on the route where there is mobile signal.

  • Discover checkpoint location and details. When you click on checkpoint icon it will tell you what facilities are available at that checkpoint, e.g. drop bag, hot drinks and toilet facilities.
